The breasts are the milk-producing glands in females composed of connective and fatty tissues.
Certain conditions like inherited genetic mutations and age may cause breast tumor growth, resulting in painful swelling and stiffness of breast tissues.
Doctors recommend breast cancer surgery to remove the tumor before it spreads to other body parts, particularly lymph nodes.
Mastectomy and lumpectomy are two distinct types of surgical treatments for breast cancer. Sometimes, you may require additional surgeries to identify the spread of cancer to your lymph nodes and to reconstruct your breasts after you have had breast cancer surgery.
if tumor growth occurs in a specific region of breasts it is removed using a
lumpectomy procedure
while if tumor growth spreads to a complete breast or in some cases to lymph nodes in the breasts surrounding it is removed using a mastectomy procedure however because complete breast tissue is removed in case of mastectomy that's why if patient wants a breast and nipple reconstruction
then a separate surgery is performed for this
procedure before surgery patients medical history is collected and few tests are performed to identify tumour growth when tumour is identified surgery is recommended to patients during surgery patients receive anaesthesia to become unconscious and a small cut is made near the nipple in Upper region of the affected breast
through which tumor tissues are removed through lumpectomy sometimes in case of
lumpectomy a wire guided surgery is performed to identify and remove the
tumor growth without damaging the normal tissues of breasts
if tumor growth starts spreading from breasts to nearby lymph nodes it is removed through a mastectomy procedure for which in addition to breast tissues lymph nodes in the armpit regen are also removed
if patient wants a breast reconstruction surgery then mostly after the tumor removal a silicone shells or belly fat is used for breast reconstruction after the surgery a wound in the breast scan is closed with the sutures after surgery patients are transferred to recovery room and are discharged
after few hours of Hospital stay if only tumor removal surgery is performed then patients are discharged the same day of surgery while if breast reconstruction is also performed at the tumor removal surgery then patients are discharged after one two days of Hospital stay
