Sri Malyadri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Vari Devasthanam is a Narasimha Swamy (avatar of Sri Maha Vishnu). He is the Swamy of Malyadri (Malakonda). A large number of devotees visit the sacred shrine of Lord Lakshmi Narasimha to pay their homage to him. Malyadri is one of the NavaNarasimhas (Nine Narasimhas).

'Malyadri' means hills arranged as a garland (mala). It may also be derived from Malaya (Hill in all of the Southern Indian languages). Malayadri means the Range of Hills, denoting their very geologically dominating nature in an otherwise flat plain land of the South Eastern Deccan Plateau. This hill range is also called the Nalla Mala (beautiful hill) range. The range runs north to south. Starting at Vijayapuri at the extreme north (Nagarjunakonda Dam) to Tirupati at the southern edge.
శ్రీ మాల్యాద్రి లక్ష్మి నృసింహ స్వామివారి ఆలయం శ్రీ పొట్టి శ్రీరాములు నెల్లూరు జిల్లా, వోలేటివారిపాలెమ మండలం లోని ఒక పుణ్యక్షేత్రం పేరు మాలకొండ. ఇక్కడ ఉన్న కొండపై, మాల్యాద్రి లక్ష్మీ నృసింహ స్వామి కొలువై ఉన్నందున ఈ ఊరికి మాలకొండ అని పేరు వచ్చింది. ఈ స్వామిని మాలకొండ స్వామిగా పిలుస్తారు. ఈ ఆలయం శనివారంనాడు మాత్రమే తెరిచెదరు. ఇక్కడకు ప్రతి శనివారం, వివిధ ప్రాంతాలనుంచి భక్తులు విచ్చేస్తూంటారు. ఎక్కువ మంది భక్తులు వస్తుంటారు. భక్తుల సహకారంతో కొండపైకి మెట్ల నిర్మాణం జరిగింది. ఈ కొండపైకి వాహనాలు వెళ్లేందుకు రోడ్డు సౌకర్యం ఉంది. ఈ కొండపై ఉన్న రెండు పెద్ద బండ రాళ్ల మధ్య దారి చాలా విచిత్రంగా ఉంటుంది. ఈ దారిలోనే దేవాలయం వద్దకు వెళ్లవలసి ఉంటుంది. చిన్నవారు, పెద్దవారు, సన్నవారు, లావువారు ఇరువైపుల ఉన్న ఈ బండరాళ్లను ఇరుకుగా రాసుకుంటూ వెళ్తారు. ప్రతి సంవత్సరం శ్రీ మాల్యాద్రి లక్ష్మి నృసింహస్వామి జయంత్సోవం సందర్భంగా వేడుకలను అత్యంత వైభవంగా ఆలయ నిర్వాహకులు నిర్వహిస్తుంటారు. ఈ వేడుకలను తిలకించడానికి భారీ సంఖ్యలో భక్తులు అనేక ప్రాంతాల నుంచి ఇక్కడకు తరలివస్తారు. పురాతన, పవిత్ర పుణ్య క్షేత్రమైన మాలకొండలో వెలిసిన శ్రీ మాల్యాద్రి లక్ష్మి నరసింహ స్వామి రాష్ట్రంలో ప్రసిద్ధి పొందిన ఆరు నృసింహ క్షేత్రాలలో ఒకటిగా ప్రసిద్ధి చెందింది. శ్రీ పొట్టి శ్రీరాములు నెల్లూరు జిల్లా కందుకూరు పట్టణానికి నైరుతి దిశలో 30 కిలోమీటర్ల దూరంలో ఈ దివ్య క్షేత్రం వెలసి యున్నది. లక్ష్మీదేవి సమేతుడైన నరసింహస్వామి జ్వాలా నరసింహస్వామిగా, భక్తుల కోర్కెలు తీర్చే వరాల నరసింహస్వామిగా పేరు గాంచాడు.
