किडनी रोगियों को High Phosphorus से कैसे बचाएं | Why Does Phosphorus Increase in Kidney Patients
Phosphorus is a natural mineral present in many foods like milk, eggs, meat, and some vegetables. In a healthy body, kidneys filter out excess phosphorus and remove it through urine. But in people with kidney failure, this function is disturbed, leading to phosphorus build-up in the body. In this video, Dr. Puru Dhawan shares how this overload develops, the risks it creates, and how it can be managed effectively.

Excess phosphorus in the blood can cause serious health issues. One major effect is the weakening of bones, as phosphorus starts replacing calcium, making bones soft, fragile, and painful. It can also affect the heart by forming deposits in the arteries, narrowing them, and blocking proper blood flow, increasing the chances of heart attack. Common signs include pain or discomfort in the back, legs, shoulders, and bones.

Phosphorus binders are prescribed to be taken with meals to stop excess phosphorus from being absorbed into the blood and help remove it through stool. Doctors may also recommend calcium and vitamin D to protect bones and reduce calcium loss. Instead of cutting out all foods with phosphorus, patients are guided to avoid only those that are high in phosphorus and less essential, such as dairy items and non-vegetarian food.

A plant-based diet is often preferred, with controlled intake of certain vegetables and fruits. Leafy greens and underground vegetables are restricted because they contain more phosphorus and potassium. Vegetables like brinjal, carrot, ladyfinger, and onion are generally safe choices. Fruits that are less acidic when ripe can also be included. The right food combination helps provide strength without causing excess phosphorus, potassium, or acid build-up in the body.
That concludes this video. We hope you found it informative and enjoyable. If you or someone you know is dealing with kidney issues and seeks improved health, consider seeking Ayurvedic kidney treatment from Sai Sanjivani (SRIAAS).
