Eclipse Martini,

You have probably heard don't look directly at an eclipse, you can go blind. We have been hearing a lot about the upcoming eclipse and here in Central New York we will be experiencing an almost total black out. Now it seems like a region where it feels like we don't see the sun for months at a time this shouldn't be that big of a deal. But is sounds like it is, Hotels are sold out, rental cars are all booked, businesses are shutting down, electronic billboards are doing countdowns. All this for a few minutes of darkness. As I said I'm not sure what all the big deal is, but it also sounds like a reason to celebrate so we have just the right cocktail for this event. So let's get the DJ to queue up some Bonnie Raitt or Pink Floyd and we are going to make a Eclipse Martini! "Let's get Pourin!"

Ingredients
2 oz Gin
.5 oz simple syrup
.5 oz fresh lemon juice
.25 oz Crème de Violette
.5 oz Raspberry Liquor
Lemon twist for garnish

Directions
Add gin, syrup and lemon into mixing glass. Add ice and stir to chill. Strain into a chilled martini glass. Pour Crème de Violette over back of spoon allowing to sink to the bottom. Float raspberry liqueur over back of spoon to layer over Violette. Express lemon twist over the cocktail and use for garnish.

Tanqueray London Dry Gin
Giffard Creme de Violette Liqueur
Chambord Raspberry Liqueur
