Learn how to find the midpoint of a line segment using the midpoint formula or translations.

If given the coordinates of the end points of a line segment, they can be substituted into the midpoint formula from coordinate geometry.

The midpoint can also be found by using the geometric transformation of translations. The operation of the translation from one endpoint to the other endpoint is found. As the midpoint divided a line segment into a 1:1 ratio. The operation of the translation can be halved. This new translation operation when applied will yield the midpoint of the line segment.
