Great Falls Balloon Festival 2022 | Maine Hot Air Balloons

This is a mini-doc style event video from the Great Falls Balloon Festival held in August of 2022. Lewiston-Auburn, Maine is a beautiful region in August and with perfect weather all weekend, the balloon pilots had several opportunities to fly from the park next to Great Falls on the Androscoggin River to...well...wherever the wind carried them! Balloon flight is predicated on heating the air within the balloon until it's hotter than the surrounding air and creates lift. After that, the wind layers can be navigated until a safe place for landing is found. This annual event is a non-profit event and is help by and for the non-profit groups in the area. It's been cancelled for two years due to health/safety concerns meaning people were more eager than ever to attend.

We at Maine Mountain Media happened to have this weekend off and decided that as a personal project it would be fun to create a video from this event. The ability to create stunning visuals with hot air balloons at sunrise or sunset over the city of Lewiston was too good to pass up.
