I'm weighing into the conversation about going 'no oils no butters no creams' on your natural hair.

Hair-lo curious cutie,

Thank you for stopping by! This trend offers promise of shorter simpler natural hair maintenance and that is enticing. The photos of the stylists' handiwork show loose, carefree perfectly defined natural hair of all textures. I know that this is a dream for lots of you. There are myriad ways to grow and maintain your natural hair and this approach is one of them. In a saturated market like the natural hair community, service and product companies look for ways to stand out. These stylists have observed that oils and butters do not help their clients in having a routine they deem ideal. They share their experience by highlighting a major difference between what they recommend and what most naturals do. This sparks curiosity.

I come to the discussion speaking on the benefits of oils and butters and why I will be continuing to use them in my routine. I'm biased by the way - I already love oils and butters. This doesn't mean I wouldn't ever explore these practices. Rather, I'm on a very specific mission right now and that would lead me off-piste. My natural hair has benefited from oils and butters and since I want to continue perfecting what I'm already doing, I'm not currently in a position to experiment so wildly. Maybe next year though.

I help new and overwhelmed naturals grow long healthy hair for the first time.
