RoboGames 2015 - Counter Revolution vs Pump

In the design please notice this is more about engineering challenges than always winning. Counter Revolution is 4 wheel drive with the motors and gears embedded inside each wheel. The wheels have springs for suspension that compress or "squat" down to the floor as the weapon hits opponents. The weapons motor produces over 11h.p. using a brushless motor that runs at 42V with a current limit of over 250A. Each weapon is 28" tip to tip and weighs over 50lbs. The weapons are mounted on dual tapered roller bearings used for an F250 front wheel. There is a lot of energy stored in these weapons and they don't stop like the Battlebots weapons you typically see. A cylinder has a lot more potential energy than a bar when compared pound for pound. For 2015 Battlebots there was an additional self righting arm in the center that has a mechanical clutch to protect the drive motor if it was abused. Each of the 6 motors where driven by their own dedicated controller with integrated gyros, current limits and suspended by rubber mounts. The electrical systems was 42V and consisted of 10S2P A123 batteries assembled in a custom pack and yes these can deliver over 300A continuously for a full 3 minute match without damage or fire.
