Since we opened in 1929, the owners of American Keyboard Galleries, Inc. and Steinway Piano Gallery of Nashville have been in the music industry as a family owned and operated business for four generations. In 1929, Joseph Mark Metcalfe began working in a small retail music store in Evansville, Indiana. He worked closely with the owner of the company and in 1949 took ownership of the store in downtown Evansville. Mark's son Bill began working in the store as a young man and in 1972 took over the operation. He grew the company and in 1989 that growth lead to a new market in Nashville, Tennessee.
