Demonstrators clashed with police in Ecuador during a rally on October 26, 2021, against President Guillermo Lasso’s economic policies. Protests erupted days after the government scrapped plans to enforce an incremental increase in fuel prices, and instead, raised petrol and diesel prices to a fixed price of US$2.55 and US$1.90 a gallon. Thousands took to the streets calling for a reduction in fuel prices and answers to alleged tax fraud by Lasso based on the Pandora Papers.
