A woman reported missing from Marinette, Wisconsin, last week was found deceased in a wooded area in Menominee County, Michigan, Tuesday while her boyfriend is in custody in Minnesota, police confirmed.

Two days after finding missing 24-year-old Gabriella Cartagena's body, Marinette authorities held a press conference on the case Thursday.

Cartagena's boyfriend, Robert Chilcote, appeared in a Minnesota court Monday on a count of aggravated battery filed in Marinette County. Minnesota records say Chilcote was booked into the jail on charges of fleeing a peace officer in a motor vehicle and being a fugitive from justice from another state.

An extradition request was also filed for a count of aggravated battery, court records show. A $500,000 cash bail was set in court Monday, and Chilcote returns to court Feb. 20.
