El verbo “TOMAR” / Uses of "tomar" in Spanish

✨ 👉🏼 Tomar 🟰 to take / to grab something.
Toma estos libros y llévalos a la biblioteca. / Take these books and take them to the library.
🛑 If you want to learn about the verb “llevar” (to take someone or something somewhere/ movement) comment it!

⚠️⚠️ The verb “coger” is often used as a synonym of tomar, for example: Coge estos libros y llévalos a la biblioteca. / Take these books and take them to the library.
🇲🇽🇲🇽 But in Mexico the verb “coger” is used as a synonym of “to fu*k” so, use it at your own risk.

✨ 👉🏼 Tomar 🟰 to drink a beverage.
🥤🥤 No me gusta tomar bebidas dulces. / I don’t like to drink sweet drinks.
⚠️⚠️ “Tomar” by itself can be used to refer to alcoholic drinks.
🍺🍺 For example: No me gusta tomar. / I don’t like to drink.

✨ 👉🏼 Tomar 🟰 to take medicine/ supplements.
💊💊 Mi madre toma vitamina C diariamente. / My mother takes vitamin C daily.

✨ 👉🏼 Tomar 🟰 to take / catch a means of transportation.
🚂🚂 ¿Tomaste el tren? / Did you take the train?

✨ 👉🏼 Tomar 🟰 to take / go down a street.
🚙🚙 Tome la carretera 5 para llegar a San Diego. / Take the freeway 5 to get to San Diego.

✨ 👉🏼 Tomar 🟰 to take a picture.
📸📸 Disculpe, ¿me podría tomar una foto? / Excuse me, could you take a picture of me?

✨ 👉🏼 Tomar 🟰 to take / accept a situation.
🐶🐶 David tomó la muerte de su perro muy a la ligera. / David took the death of his dog very lightly.

✨ 👉🏼 Tomar el sol 🟰 to sunbathe.
☀️☀️ ¿Vamos a la playa a tomar el sol? / ¿Do you want to go to the beach to sunbathe?

✨ 👉🏼 Tomar 🟰 to take time.
🍳🍳 Hacer tamales toma mucho tiempo. / Making tamales takes a lot of time.
