In this video, Chris Yeh, co-author of the book Blitzscaling, discusses how Blitzscaling has had a major impact on our world. This framework is best captured by the multi-billion dollar companies coming out of Silicon Valley. Although Silicon Valley only holds a population of three million, it was home to half of the 100 billion dollar tech companies in the world! Blitzscaling was vital in the success of companies such as Amazon and Alibaba - and using the principles they used, other startups can learn and also become successful.

If you look at the world's 100 billion dollar
technology companies, over half of them were
created in Silicon Valley,
which is amazing considering that Silicon Valley
has single digit millions in terms of population.
So what is it that makes Silicon Valley so good
at scaling up this technology companies?
The answer is blitzscaling!
Blitzscaling is a discipline where you grow the
world's fastest companies
by prioritizing speed over efficiency in the face
of uncertainty.
Now you may ask "Why would I want to blitzscale"?
The key is this:
in today's network world, more and more markets
are winner-take-most or winner-take-all
and in those markets, the first company to
achieve critical scale
is the enduring market leader.
So, if you're in one of these winner-take-most or
winner-take-all markets, then it's rational to
blitzscale,
to prioritize speed above all else, because the
only thing that matters is being the first person
to reach critical scale.
That is what powers companies like Amazon, Alibaba
and Airbnb.
And those are the principles that you're going to
be able to apply
as you're working with startups!
