SAFE ISOLATION | MAINS SPUR FOR FIRE ALARM PANEL

In this video, I demonstrate and show a guide on how to carry out safe isolation on a mains spur for a fire alarm panel. This guide can also be carried out on alarm panels, power supply units (PSU's), AC units, boilers, water heaters, pumps, and many more.


GUIDE

Step 1
Select an approved voltage tester and test your tester on a known supply or a proving unit

Step 2
Test for voltage on the circuit or equipment you are isolating

Step 3
Identify the means of isolation

Step 4
Turn off and isolate the circuit using a lock off kit

Step 5
Fit a warning label to your isolation device

Step 6
Check the circuit is dead with your voltage testers

Step 7
Retest your tester on a known supply or proving unit

Step 8
Carry out your work
