Annelids are also known as segmented worms . Annelids are different from those unsegmented worms i.e. flatworms (platyhelminthes) and roundworms (aschelminthes) in many aspects. They are well organized animals compare to other previous phyla . First animal group having close blood vascular system.

Phylum Annelida Divided into four classes on the basis of their morphological characters:
1) polychaeta - e.g. Nereis a.k.a. clamworm
2) oligochaeta - e.g. pheretima a.k.a. earthworm
3) hirudinaria - e.g. hirudinea a.k.a. leech
4) archiannelida - polygordius
