The media plays a huge role in sports and broadcasting it to the public whether it be in the newspapers, radio, books or film industries. This section will give you some details on the roles the media plays in sport.
Sport is everywhere
The most common forms of sport broadcasting are TV and Radio however nowadays the internet is taken an ever more powerful stance with live streaming and live commentary updates on sports websites.
Cable, Television and Satellite networks pay vast sums of money in order to be allowed to broadcast sports media whether it be for various sports competitions or general sports coverage. These can be for either entertainment purposes (live sports, highlights or quiz shows) or for sports articles and analysis which tend to be more informative.
On the whole sports media coverage relies on technology and its progression. The further our technology progresses the more we see sport within the media in its various forms.

Positive Effects of Media
Media companies introduce many benefits to sport through their involvement for example, the coverage they pay to broadcast sporting events introduces huge amounts of money to the sport as well as providing a platform to increase public awareness and participation of the sport.
By watching, reading or listening about the sport people are able to learn about the workings and rules of a sport without even playing which can lead to further interest and participation.
