This is the easiest way to sew a scrunchie! I have been sewing for a really long time and have found that this is the best way to sew a scrunchie. Overall the steps are easier and I personally like the look of the scrunchie when sewn this way.

1. Cut out fabric that is 22 inches by 4-4 1/2 inches.
2. Cut elastic 9 inches and tie ends together.
3. Sew the fabric ends together with right sides together.
4. Sandwich the elastic in the fabric putting wrong sides together.
5. Sew with a serger all the way around while keeping the elastic inside the fabric and not sewing on the elastic.
