2025年5月に群馬県草津町にある「草津温泉」に行きました。

後編はライトアップした草津温泉を紹介。
西の河原公園、裏草津地蔵、白根神社、道の駅「草津運動茶屋公園」など夜や翌朝の混雑具合もお見せします。
・草津温泉
日本三名泉の1つである草津温泉。
自然湧出量は日本一を誇り毎分32,300リットル以上、1日にドラム缶約23万本分もの温泉が湧き出しています。
草津の旅館や温泉施設で「源泉かけ流し」ができるのはこのおかげ。
さらに驚くべきは、その泉質で日本有数の酸性度で、pH値は2.1（湯畑源泉）。
雑菌などの殺菌作用は抜群です。
草津温泉に数ある共同浴場の中で、大浴場や大型露天風呂を有する代表的な共同浴場が「草津三湯」と呼ばれる、大滝乃湯、御座之湯、西の河原露天風呂。もちろん三湯全ての湯船が源泉かけ流し。
三湯に1回ずつお得に入浴できて、しかも有効期限なしの入湯手形「ちょいな三湯めぐり手形」も販売しています。
大人 2,700円のところ→1,950円
子ども1,350円のところ→900円

・西の河原公園
草津温泉の西方にあり、辺り一面至るところから温泉が湧き出して大量の湯煙を上げ、湯川となって流れています。
また、その景観から鬼が住む場所、鬼の泉水とも呼ばれて恐れられ、鬼が出るので、この地では大声を出してはならないとの伝承があります。
今でも鬼の茶釜、鬼の相撲場などの名称が残っています。
公園内には草津温泉を世界に広めたベルツ博士や、斎藤茂吉・水原桜子など、偉人・文人の歌碑や記念碑もにあります。
夜はライトアップされ散策にもおススメです。
・道の駅「草津運動茶屋公園」
草津温泉の玄関口に位置するここ道の駅はドイツの街並みをモチーフにしたおしゃれな建物が目印です。
観光総合インフォメーションやゆったりと森林浴のできるやすらぎの森なども併設しています。
ベルツ記念館や特産ショップ、喫茶・軽食コーナーもあります。
上州名物のひもかわうどん、草津名物のクマザサうどんが人気です。

The second part will introduce Kusatsu Onsen lit up.
I'll also show you how crowded it is at night and the next morning at places like Sainokawara Park, Ura Kusatsu Jizo, Shirane Shrine, and the roadside station "Kusatsu Undouchaya Park".
・Kusatsu Onsen
Kusatsu Onsen is one of the three most famous hot springs in Japan.
It boasts the largest natural spring water output in Japan, at over 32,300 liters per minute, and about 230,000 drums' worth of hot spring water gushes out every day.
This is why you can enjoy "direct-flowing spring water" at inns and hot spring facilities in Kusatsu.
Even more surprising is that the spring quality is one of the most acidic in Japan, with a pH value of 2.1 (Yubata spring source).
It has excellent antibacterial properties against germs.
Of the many public baths in Kusatsu Onsen, the most representative ones with large public baths and large open-air baths are the "Kusatsu Three Baths": Otaki-no-yu, Goza-no-yu, and Sainokawara Open-air Bath. Of course, all three baths have water directly from the source.
You can also purchase a "Choina Santo Meguri Tegata" (a ticket to visit the three baths), which allows you to bathe in each of the three baths once at a discount and has no expiration date.

・Sainokawara Park
Located to the west of Kusatsu Onsen, hot springs gush out from all over the area, raising large amounts of steam and flowing as the Yukawa River.
In addition, due to its scenery, it is feared as a place where demons live and is called Oni no Izumi, and there is a legend that demons will appear here, so you should not shout loudly in this area.
Even today, names such as Oni no Chagama (Demon's Tea Kettle) and Oni no Sumo Arena remain.
In the park, there are monuments and poems of great men and writers such as Dr. Erwin Baelz, who popularized Kusatsu Onsen around the world, Mokichi Saito, and Sakurako Mizuhara.
At night, the area is lit up and is recommended for a stroll.
・Roadside station "Kusatsu Undouchaya Park"
This roadside station, located at the entrance to Kusatsu Onsen, is marked by a stylish building with a German townscape motif.
It also has a general tourist information center and a relaxing forest bathing area called Yasuragi no Mori.
There is also the Baelz Memorial Hall, a specialty shop, and a cafe and snack corner.
Himokawa udon, a specialty of Joshu, and Kumazasa udon, a specialty of Kusatsu, are popular.
