Day Hiking Mt. Rainier National Park: The Terminus of the Carbon Glacier

Описание к видео Day Hiking Mt. Rainier National Park: The Terminus of the Carbon Glacier

This was a 17 mile round trip day hike up the Carbon River Valley to the terminus of the Carbon Glacier on a very hot day in mid-May. Mt. Rainier's Carbon Glacier, which is a large cirque and valley glacier coming off its north face, terminates at around 4,000 ft these days. At one time it had the prestige of terminating at the lowest elevation than any other glacier in the lower 48 states. Don't know if this is still true after it has receded up its valley quit a bit over the last decade that Sarah and I have been hiking to its overlook. On this trip I only film the 3.5 mile stretch between Ipsut Creek campground and the glacier. If you would like to see the rest of this hike, check the video I made back in February for the Carbon River Rainforest and Ipsut Creek Campground in winter conditions. Enjoy.
