🔊🔛 The next morning of my Work- and Play-time, partaking in my friend Meg’s #NorthFork farm life, I found myself having a quiet breakfast and email session out on the back deck—until she texted me to meet her back at the Old Town Farmstand (which she managed) because a whole vanload of fresh surplus flowers had been delivered from her florist friend, and she was setting up a DIY flower bar to customers. 💐 (The entire farmstand is on the honor system with a cash box or Venmo, and she was pricing them to move, even though clientele that came in that morning was wearing Gucci and Prada.)

After bunching and prepping the flowers for sale, the next order of business was to attend to her @YennicottOysters farm, so we got on Meg's old boat. With a cage of oysters from dockside shallow waters, we cruised through choppy waters to the oyster farm about a mile out in the Little Peconic Bay, where she owns dozens of acres of seabed to farm #oysters. 🦪

We dropped off the cage into deeper waters, and then she showed me how #oyster farming is done by pulling out another cage of oysters-in-progress—one of about a hundred that she harvests from—to see how they’re faring.

With work out of the way, it was time to play, and so we put on our Sunday Best—accidentally matching hues in the process—and went to another one of her favorite vineyards, @MattabellaWines, for another wine tasting in their beautiful yard area. On the way to dinner, we went to visit her friends at @KKs_TheFarm, where we roamed out the fresh produce, the gardens, and above all, the miniature cows grazing on grass and hay. 🐮

We dined ourselves at Eddie’s Oyster Bar at the boutique @SilverSandoMotel, with clams, hen of the woods 🍄‍🟫, squid 🦑, grilled summer squash 🥒, crispy fish, and a grilled porgy 🐟. Dessert came after at @LittleFishNoFo, but not until after some sundowner glasses of wine on the beach at the Low Tide Beach Bar at the Sound View Motel—just in time for a farewell sunset. 🌅🥂 — Work hard, play hard on the North Fork of #LongIsland, NY, USA.
