In a small village, a ginger cat named *Whiskers* wandered the streets, clever and curious. Near the edge of the town lived a large, gentle dog named **Bruno**, who guarded his owner’s garden but often felt lonely.

One sunny afternoon, Whiskers sneaked into the garden for a nap. Instead of barking, Bruno wagged his tail.

“Why aren’t you chasing me?” Whiskers asked, surprised.

“I don’t like chasing,” Bruno replied with a friendly grin. “I like company.”

From that day on, Whiskers and Bruno became inseparable. They explored the village together, shared meals, and napped under the same tree.

One day, a group of stray dogs spotted Whiskers near the old bakery. They growled and surrounded him.

“Look at this little snack,” one of them snarled.

Whiskers tried to escape but was cornered. Just then, Bruno appeared, growling louder than thunder.

“Back off!” he barked, standing protectively in front of Whiskers.

The strays hesitated, then ran away, scared of the loyal guardian.

Whiskers looked up at Bruno. “You saved me.”

Bruno wagged his tail. “Always will, buddy.”

A week later, Bruno became sick. He lay under the tree, weak and barely able to move.

Whiskers noticed right away. He meowed in concern, nuzzled Bruno’s face, then ran off into the village.

Every day, Whiskers returned with food—scraps of chicken, pieces of bread, and even fish stolen from the market. He stayed by Bruno’s side, keeping him warm with his fur.

People in the village began to notice. Touched by Whiskers’ devotion, they brought medicine and warm blankets.

Thanks to Whiskers and the villagers, Bruno slowly recovered. One morning, he stood up and wagged his tail again.

Whiskers purred loudly, rubbing against Bruno's leg.

“Thank you for not giving up on me,” Bruno whispered.

Whiskers grinned, “That’s what friends are for.”

From that day forward, their bond grew even stronger. They became a symbol of true friendship in the village—showing everyone that love and loyalty know no species.
