Replacing the Motor | Litter-Robot 3

The motor on the Litter-Robot is sturdy and made of high-quality materials. But like any other motor, it can malfunction or stop working altogether. But if you are handy and have a pair of needle-nose pliers and a Phillips screwdriver, it is easy to replace your old motor with a new one, which you can order from us.

Follow this motor replacement guide if you run into any of the following issues:
- Red and Yellow Flashing Lights
- Blue and Red Flashing Lights
- Over Torque Fault Notifications
- Cycle not completing

Tools needed:
- A Phillips-head screwdriver
- A pair of needle-nose pliers.

How to replace the motor of Litter-Robot 3:
- First, use your screwdriver to remove the five Phillips-head screws that hold the circuit board cover. Use your needle-nose pliers to lift up the assembly and separate the circuit board cover.
- Using the pliers, gently pull the yellow and white motor wires free from the strain-relief slots at the top of the base. After that, separate these wires from the rest.
- A piece of tape runs on the side. Pull it up slightly but don’t remove it. Then simply grab the motor and pull it out.
- Before you install your new motor, take the motor isolators off the old one and transfer them to the new one.
- Installation is the reverse. Holding the motor in one hand and the wires in the other, put the red and white wires in the track with the rest of the wires and put the tape back over them. Reconnect the wires red to green and brown to white. Your new motor is installed.
- Put the bezel, or circuit board cover, back on, being careful to align it properly and to make sure no wires are pinched. Lock in position and then tighten the five Phillips screws, making sure not to over-tighten so you don’t damage the plastic.
