There is a risk-return tradeoff in investing that most investors don’t understand. There is no return without the risk and higher return investments mean your money is at higher risk. That doesn’t mean you can’t invest for high returns but it does mean you need to understand how it works and how it fits with your portfolio!

In this video, I’ll explain the relationship between high-risk and high return investments. Then I’ll reveal seven highest return investments and my favorite low-risk investing strategy.

I’ll be ranking the high return investments in the video by risk from lowest to highest. That means the first investments may offer lower risk but will also be lower potential returns compared to the high return ideas later. I’ll show you the risks to each investment and how it fits with your portfolio.

The risk-return tradeoff just means that investments with higher potential for returns tend to have greater risk, prices tend to rise and fall more than other investments. There are fewer investors willing to take as much risk as you get in higher risk investments so prices have to adjust for higher returns to attract buyers. And that’s why the tradeoff is set in stone. Investments adjust nearly immediately for levels of risk and potential return. Just think of the last time a major news event broke about one of your stocks, the price adjusted in a heartbeat. The market automatically adjusts to perceived levels of risk to drive the stock price higher or lower.

Why is it important to understand the risk-return tradeoff? Well, because I think a lot of YouTube channels are pitching the returns without the risk. They sell you into high return investments without talking about the risks just as Bernie Madoff did for more than a decade. But it was all a scam. Investors lost over $50 billion on the lesson that there is no return without risk and that’s what you need to understand. Not that you can’t invest in high-return investments but that you always need to look for and understand the risks.
