Описание к видео DIY Acid Burned Textiles▶Use This Trick to Create Distressed Fabrics (DIY FABRIC MANIPULATION IDEAS)

Warning: Experimenting with this is addicting! How to create this burned fabric effect to make textile art or fashion? Today I show how to create distressed fabrics. I am using acid to manipulate fabric and make my own DIY ausbrenner fabric manipulation experiment. This is another thrift flip no sewing machine edition.

Welcome to my new channel where we take old clothes and make it fashion! My name is Peer Cox, I am a #fashiondesigner and I want to inspire you to think twice before you throw away your clothes. I take mostly vintage or old clothes and make tutorial style DIY videos. I do sewing projects, try new and traditional (fabric manipulation) techniques and do all kinds of other vintage clothing transformations at home. These transformations are called #thriftflip on social media. Some outfits will be ready to wear to the office but there will also be high fashion almost couture looks and everything in between. So if you are into fabric manipulation, #sewing, #redesign or upcycled #avant-garde fashion make sure to subscribe and also follow me on instagram because I upload a lot of stuff there that you won't find here.
FEEDBACK
I hope you enjoyed this sustainable fashion project. I would love to hear your opinion, feedback, tips and tricks for upcycling or sustainable alternatives or anything you want to share in the comment section.

I am always looking for new inspiration for my channel. If you have any ideas for upcycling designs, copycat designs, techniques or any other requests please give me a message or leave a comment because I love suggestions. Also I am looking for other small content creators to collaborate with.

WARNING the acid is a chemical substance that can be irritating and when spilled it can also damage your clothes, eyes or even nature. Always take precautions, doing your recycling project in the most responsible way possible by wearing protective gear and ventilating the room you are in properly.

TODAYS DIY PROCESS AND TIPS

In todays thrift flip I use ausbrenner (or dévorée) acid to manipulate the fabric of a vintage trousers. The acid burns away the cellulose fibers (cotton, linen, viscose), so it will work best and look most pretty on fabric blends that contain something else like a synthetic fiber too. If you have a 100 % cotton fabric for example you will just end up with holes. My garment had 85% cotton and 15% polyamide.

You have to first mix the two components of the acid well together (1 part of the reaction powder and 10 parts of the gel). Than you can apply the acid to your garment with a brush. It is recommendable to wear old clothes and protective wear like gloves. Make sure that you have something in between your garment to prevent it from leaking through. Create a pattern that you like and let it dry completely before going to the next step, otherwise some toxic fumes may develop when it gets heated. After drying, you can iron the project until all the ausbrenner (dévorée) spots get brown and hard. Now you can wash the garment thoroughly in water, you have to really thoroughly rinse and rub the fabric for a prolonged time to get all the damaged cotton fibers out. Now let your garment dry and enjoy it! If you make a little mistake and have a bit of a hole somewhere like I had, you can always use some fusible adhesive and a piece of fabric to correct this.
