William Chalmers Burns, though not as known in our day, was one of the great missionaries of the 19th Century. Burns was a trusted friend and co-pastor to Robert Murray M’Cheyne and contemporary of Hudson Taylor with each having a wonderful impact on each other’s ministries in China. Burns understanding of language fluency, perseverance through trials, and being a “man of the book” are examples to us today.
