Driving through the town of North Sydney to the Marine Atlantic Ferry Terminal.
You might decide to grab the overnight ferry up to The Rock thinking you are going to sleep on it, but that will be unlikely. All night poker games in the cafeteria, likely angry seas, and people snoring all around you. But it's definitely the most interesting way to get up there.

I've done this in 2003 (MV Caribou) and 2018 (MV Blue Puttees). In 2003 we slept on the floor. In 2018 we paid for reclining chairs. Got no sleep either either way.
