Breast Reconstruction: Wound Management, Medical Conditions and Optimizing Outcomes

Описание к видео Breast Reconstruction: Wound Management, Medical Conditions and Optimizing Outcomes

Dr. Minas Chrysopoulo of ‪@PRMAPlasticSurgery‬ and founder of the ‪@breastadvocateapp‬ in San Antonio discusses important topics in optimizing care with patients during DIEP flap plastic surgery to minimize the possibility of wounds after breast reconstruction.

He begins with a discussion on the importance of reporting to your plastic surgeon such medical conditions as Factor V Leiden, a clotting disorder, that can increase the risk of flap failure.

Dr. C points out comorbidities that may affect wound healing such as higher BMI, smoking, and diabetes to name a few. He also mentions the importance of proper nutrition, another important factor in the ability of the body to heal after breast reconstruction.

The Foundation is grateful for the time and information Dr. C.
