Hello neighbor, this is Curt with etrailer, and today we're gonna take a look at the Yakima FreshTrack Ski and Snowboard Carrier, and see how it interacts on our 2022 Ford Edge. Now, if you've gone ahead and purchased the FreshTrack and have used it a few times, go ahead and share any photos or experiences you've had with it in the comments below. We'd love to share your story with our other neighbors so they can make the best decision for themselves. Now, if you've got a ski trip coming up and you've got a handful of people going with you, you just need a good place to keep those skis and snowboards that are gonna be out of the way, out of the vehicle, and a rooftop ski or snowboard carrier is gonna come in very handy for that. This version of the FreshTrack that we have up here today will allow you to carry up to two snowboards, or up to four sets of skis. However, if that is not quite enough for you and your passengers on your trip, there is a version of this available that will let you carry up to four boards or six pairs of skis, and it's available right here at etrailer.com.
Now, the FreshTrack is very, very easy to install, it goes on using these clamp mounts that can be tightened down through this knob, And then using your Yakima security tool that's included, if you screw in this right here as a stopper, it's essentially going to secure these clamps onto your rack so it will deter theft. The rack also, on the clamps to the boards itself has a key cam here, and this is also able to be used with your other Yakima products through Yakima's SKS system, you can get it keyed alike to any other Yakima products you have as well. The clamp system is gonna go on any of your arrow bars, square bars, round bars, and it will fit most factory bars as well. Operation is really very simple, we've got these two push buttons here. we just pop those down, and it will release our boards, giving us access to get them on and off.
It's got this hollowed-out rubber tubing here that collapses really well, and it does a really good job of keeping grips on the boards to keep 'em from sliding side to side or front to back. Depending on the thickness of your board, there are several options here as far as clamping it down. You just get it nice and snug on there, and everything is ready to roll. And as far as how it fits on our Ford Edge, as far as ride height and things like that, that could definitely depend on which crossbar system you have. All of these have different heights to towers, so giving you a measurement from the roof to the bottom of your board, or at least to the area where the board is clamped in, that's probably gonna be a little misleading, because again, different people have different crossbar systems.
So let me go grab our measuring tape, and what we'll do is we'll take a measurement that'll at least help you calculate what the right height would be on your vehicle. So from the top of the crossbar to the bottom of the board here where it's clamped in, it's approximately three inches. So whatever your height is from your rooftop to the top of your crossbar, add another three inches, and you will get the overall board height here. And that'll help you out just making sure you have enough clearance for any of your attachments not to be bumping against your roof, because really, you do have to carry them in, if you're gonna max this out, you've gotta carry 'em in the sandwich-type capacity. If it was a another board like this we'd have up here, we'd have it flipped just like the skis.
And you just wanna make sure you got room down here for your boot attachments and things like that. Now, the way that we have this set up, and the way that I would recommend setting it up, is by using our overhang on our crossbar. We have 60-inch crossbars up here now. I had 53-inch bars on previous to this, and it was not long enough to get the clamp on the outside. I was forced to put it inside the towers, making it a little bit more difficult to reach. But I
