Somewhere there exists a four-track recording of a very rough version of this song on a cassette tape I gave to Marina Sirtis at a Star Trek Convention held in the summer before the airing of the last season of “Star Trek: The Next Generation”. At first I wasn’t sure I could include this in a modern collection as the lyrics were sexist and borderline misogynistic (as was most of the lyrics I wrote in my 20s), but for this song that’s kind of the point. Even in the 24th century there would probably be some young cadets out of the academy that haven’t quite matured enough sexually. By no means is the protagonist of this story the bad guy, but he does need some guidance - preferably with another therapist on the ship. The vocal delivery on this modern version is me channeling my inner Gene Simmons, and I did tweak a few lines of the lyrics so the “Cancel Culture Club” wouldn’t be breathing down my neck too hard.
