I have set about for better or worse to learn the method of kite flying known as Panying or Plate Eagle. In my innocence, I thought my years of experience with single and dual line kites would be sufficient. I especially thought my indoor kiting experience would make this a snap. Not so! Everything about the eagle kite including materials and construction method, the line the reel and the environmental conditions all play significant roles in mastering the kite. Speaking of which, I've been at it for over a month, but four months of training would qualify me as a novice. The kite masters who can literally make these kites soar with the eagles...well that takes longer. I have determined that I shall persist. I just hate breaking eagles in the process. They come hand made from China, you know.
