Brood XIII and XIX CICADAS and their impact on PREDATORS

Of the more than 3,000 species of cicada in the world, only seven are periodical cicadas, and the only country you can find them in is the US. All seven species belong to the genus Magicicada, named as such because scientists at the time thought their life cycles seemed like pure magic.

Periodical cicadas have an incredibly creative defense strategy to combat predators. It's called predator satiation, and it explains why so many cicadas emerge all at once. Watch this video to learn more about it!
