EUROPEAN RAILWAYS of the 1990s
Ferrara Stazione (Italy FS) on 25th September 1997
Sermide Stazione
Situated between Bologna and on the line to Venezia (Venice) is the large town of Ferrara. With a small connection to Poggio Rogo on the route from Bologna to Verona and a depot at Porta Reno station which is home to the FP (Ferrovie Padane) class 220 diesel hydraulic locomotives. The BR class 43 or "Warships" were based upon these locomotives and have extremely similar characteristics. I did manage to capture a couple on film, as well as the plentiful amount of other interesting traction types. A visit to Porta Reno and Sermide stations are included on this video. I have split the feature into 2 parts and the first part has a visit to Sermide station where the second part includes a visit to Porta Reno station in Ferrara.
Many of the Italian electric traction type Locomotives and units are seen in the video that were present in the day.
I hope this series will appeal to the BR enthusiast as well as the European enthusiasts and again feel free to comment on any material or subscribe and like to the channel to help support it's growing popularity. It may not always be possible to answer every comment or question, especially if it is not in English, but every comment is read and greatly appreciated. I do hope this video entertains and evokes old fond memories of the European Railway Scene of the era.
