Seasoning a Dosa Tawa involves
- Scrubbing with mild soap (This is to remove any external elements/rust. Your tawa might be lying in your favorite shopping stores warehouse for a long time)
- Washing with plain water. To remove soap and rust.
- Heating the Tawa. To clear off any water from it.
- Applying vegetable oil on all sides. This acts as the non stick coat.
- Smoking off the oil by heating the Dosa tawa on a gast stove on low flame. Low flame is the key here. It may take time, but it's worth it.

Important tips
- Never pour cold water on hot tawas. It might lead to cracks
- Do not apply too much oil. Even if you do apply too much oil, wipe off with a paper towel.
- Use proper heat protection gear when handling cast iron. These utensils retain heat for a long time. So always use tongs or heat resistant gloves.
