Pruning Spiral Juniper Topiary 🌳[TheHappyPlaceGarden]

In today’s video I am pruning a blue point Juniper spiral topiary. Hold the shears at about a 45 degree angle to the area to be pruned to help round the shape. Tip prune snipping only a little bit at a time. Do not prune into the brown stems since you will not get new growth from the woody branches. Make sure to clean your pruners before starting so you don’t spread any disease and since Juniper have a lot of resin you will need to clean them several times during your pruning. If you apply blade oil to the pruners after cleaning with alcohol prior to starting this will help prevent the resin from building up on the blades. I did not have any on hand on this day. The best time to prune is in early Spring or Fall.
