Barbie is crushing it at the box offices making more than The Batman back in 2022. This is the biggest grossing film for Warner bros since the pandemic. As of August 2nd 2023, the film has made 811 million dollars to be exact. The film features a large ensemble of a cast to match Oppenheimer's. Both films were part of the barbenheimer phenomenon taking over the web. But how do these films hold up on their own? I already did an Oppenheimer review and raved about it. Now I finally had a chance to sit and watch the newest Greta Gerwig directed project. Loved her work in lady bird…so I had high hopes she would add something unique to a very large brand like Barbie. The film stars Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling as Barbie and Ken. The film features other Barbie's and ken's as well. I found the film to be very unique in its setting and almost satirical tone throughout. The film pokes fun at plenty of Barbie stereotypes by morphing them all into Robbie's character.
