MP154 - In the cab of UP 8548, an EMD SD70ACe

This is a detailed interior examination of the cab of Union Pacific's #8548, an EMD (Electro Motive Diesel) SD70ACe locomotive, one of 100 EM units built in 2007 with 4,300 hp.

Note how much of the cab is assembled with bolts, Phillips head screws and pop rivets for easy assembly or dis-assembly.

Here, I capture the cab of this unit with the explicit invitation of a UP engineer. Because I've promised to keep my cab crews secret, I'll simply say that this video occurred in the high granite over Donner Pass. The engineer invited me to stay for some car switching, but I ran out of time and drive space on the Flip HD for purposes of documentation. Though, of course, I enjoyed the cab ride for any number of movements.
