STOP THE THREAT: Active Shooter Training

OCSO School Resource Officers are trained in single-deputy response to active shooter incidents. If a school is under fire, SROs don't have the luxury to wait for backup. They must immediately move toward the threat and eliminate that threat, because every second can mean more lives lost.

Over the summer, the deputies who protect Orange County Public Schools were put through real-life scenarios using role players and blank rounds to simulate an on-campus shooting.

"Our deputies go through this active assailant training and are prepared should a tragedy strike, and I absolutely believe our kids here in Orange County
are safer because of this active assailant training," said Sheriff John Mina
