1. As regards articles appearing recently in the Italian and foreign press concerning the presumed use of an Italian-made rifle in the slaying of President Kennedy, the following comments are made.
2. The weapon which appears to have been employed in this criminal attack is a Model 91 rifle, 7.35 caliber, 1938 modification
3. The description of a 'Mannlicher Carcano' rifle in the Italian and foreign press is in error.
4. The 'Model 91' Italian rifle is Austrian in origin, and is derived from the Steyer.
5. The 'Mannlicher' is a Hungarian rifle whose clip loader was adopted for the Italian 'Model 91'

The accounts by Roger Craig indicate the rifle found was a Mauser chambered in 7.65mm and yet the CIA report indicates it was an Italian Model 91 chambered in 7.35mm. Shooting the incorrect cartridge out of a rifle would not produce an inaccurate shot and at worst the rifle may explode.

The conspirators knew Oswald's rifle fired 6.5mm and staged three shells but staged the wrong Mauser in 7.65mm and/or Italian Model 38 (or 91?) in 7.35mm. The official record produced by the LBJ assembled Warren Commission says an Italian Model 38 6.5mm rifle was used to pull off a marksmanship feat many are not able replicate today with much better rifles and ammunition. Investigation of the rifle and scope found it to be misaligned. The government has failed to reconcile and answer to these contradicting accounts and discrepancies.
