Coach Carter is an American biographical sports drama for teens that came out in 2005. It stars Samuel L. Jackson and was directed by Thomas Carter . The movie is based on the real-life story of Ken Carter, the basketball coach at Richmond High School. Jackson plays Carter, who made headlines in 1999 when he suspended his undefeated high school basketball team because of poor grades. The story came from a script that John Gatins and Mark Schwahn wrote together. Rob Brown, Channing Tatum, Debbi Morgan, Robert Ri'chard, and the singer Ashanti are all in the cast.
