We are given atmospheric pressure in kPa, and we want to convert to psi (pounds per square inch).

First, we convert kPa to Pa by multiplying by a factor of 1000 to get rid of the prefix kilo. Next, we replace Pa with N/m^2. We then convert square meters to square centimeters, taking care to square the conversion factor from meters to centimeters, then we convert square centimeters to square inches, and finally we convert Newtons to pounds in order to obtain the usual value of 14.7psi for atmospheric pressure.
