In this lesson I will explain binary numbers. All modern computer systems are made up simply of a huge number of simple on/off switches. The on off switches are transistors, built on silicon. Modern computer brains can have 10 billion of these tiny switches, or transistors. Everything is done in terms of these on off switches. Numbers therefore have two states to work with ON or OFF. We can thing of these as a 1 for ON and a 0 for OFF. So, this leads to the binary number system where everything must be represented by either a 1 or a 0. In this video I show how any number can be represented by a sequence of '0's and '1's. Enjoy!

I like using a wireless keyboard and mouse to have fewer wires. You can certainly use your USB keyboard and mouse, but if you want a nice wireless one, this one works on the pi.
