Today’s Video topic is skin types. Everyone's skin is unique. But there are a few common skin types that you'll find. Knowing what type of skin you have can help you treat you skin better, and pick the best products for your face and body.
1- Oily Skin
Having oily skin means that your sebaceous glands produce more oil than is needed to keep the skin moisturized. This can be caused by genetics or hormonal changes. Oily skin tends to be more prone to acne and blackheads due to the buildup of excess oil on the surface of pores and hair follicles. To treat oily skin, you need to remove dead skin cells from within pores so they do not clog up with dirt & oil.
2- Dry Skin
Dry skin is a very common skin type. it can be accompanied by flaking, redness and itching. It's often caused by aging, sun damage, genetics, and lifestyle choices. You can treat dry skin with moisturizers and other products that contain ingredients such as vitamin E.
3- Combination Skin
If you're like most people, then you have combination skin. The T-zone area of your face is oily, while other areas (like around your eyes) are dry. This can make it difficult to find a cleanser that works for all areas of your face.
4- Normal Skin
Normal skin is neither dry nor oily, but it does not have sensitive skin. Normal skin does not need special care, as it is not prone to acne. So, people with this type of skin are considered lucky.
5- Sensitive Skin
Sensitive skin affects about 50% of the population. Typically, it's characterized by an increased susceptibility to redness and irritation, and the skin is also more likely to experience breakouts than normal or oily skin types.
The two main factors that determine how sensitive your skin is: how easily it reacts to irritants (like sunscreen), and how much oil it contains—which can make it either dry or oily at any given time. Sensitive complexions are prone to allergies as well, especially when products include irritating ingredients like fragrances or parabens (a preservative found in many cosmetics).
Knowing your skin type is the first step to proper care. You can't take care of the health and appearance of your skin if you don't know what it's like.
Here are a few general tips for different skin types. Use a gentle cleanser, moisturizer and sunscreen every day. If you have oily or combination skin, use products that contain salicylic acid to remove excess oil from your face so that it doesn't clog pores. If you have dry skin, use moisturizers with ingredients such as hyaluronic acid or ceramides to replenish lost moisture in the outermost layer of the epidermis.
