Tensions escalation: Norway deploys dozens of M109 155mm Howitzers, gear and ammunition to Ukraine

Norway has donated 22 M109 155mm tracked self-propelled howitzers. The donation also includes gear, spare parts and ammunition.

Norway has also trained Ukranian soldiers on how to use the system. This training has taken place in Germany.

- This is a substantial contribution and one that is very much in demand by Ukraine, says the Minister of Defence.

Norway will contribute to a fund to coordinate acquisition of military equipment for Ukraine. The fund is led by the United Kingdom, which will coordinate the purchase and transport of defence equipment for Ukraine. The government proposes to give NOK 400 million to the fund.

Norway has donated 1500 bulletproof vests, 5000 helmets, 15.000 field rations, 1000 protective masks with filters, 2000 sleeping bags, 10.000 sleeping mats and some clothing to Ukraine.
