Ankut, also known as Annakut or Govardhan Puja, is a Hindu festival celebrated primarily in India the day after Diwali. The word "Ankut" translates to "mountain of food," and the festival revolves around offering a variety of food items to the deity, typically Lord Krishna, as a way of showing gratitude for nature’s bounty and blessings.

This festival is closely associated with the story of Krishna lifting Govardhan Hill to protect the people of Vrindavan from a storm sent by Indra, the rain god. To honor this, devotees make a "mountain" of food as an offering, symbolizing the Govardhan Hill.

During Ankut, temples and households prepare a large variety of vegetarian dishes, sweets, and treats to be offered to the deity. These offerings are later distributed as prasada (blessed food). The festival highlights themes of humility, devotion, and gratitude for nature's provisions.
