This silent Cine Film was kindly given to me by Phil Harris a friend of Gary who had filmed this unique coverage of South Wales Railways in the early1960s during the Steam /Diesel transition period .
The quality of this NEARLY 60 YEAR OLD film varies greatly but the content for South Wales steam lovers is priceless showing familiar places as well as hens teeth locations.
such as Abercynon and Merthyr sheds in colour , Maroon Westerns at Aberbeeg with ex works brand new out of the box 37s alongside 9Fs on Iron Ore to Ebbw vale.
Watch 2-8-2 tank 5200 slipping backwards .
Ebbw junction shed in steam with double headed 37s passing.
Pontypool Station with Steam and diesel, maroon Warship and green 47s.
!st generation DMUs on the Rhymney valley.
Routes featured Merthyr to Brecon and I think 3 Cocks Jct.
Bargoedd Dowlais ,and Pontypool to Neath.
there can't be much more like this around waiting to be published so never mind the quality ,feel the content.
I hope the added music track enhances the viewing and adds some empathy to the period.
