Telangana Jagruthi president K. Kavitha has launched a hunger strike demanding justice for Velugumatla victims. She stated that the protest will continue until houses are constructed for the victims at the same location.

Kavitha accused the Congress government of attempting to hand over 31 acres of land meant for the poor to influential people. During her protest in Khammam, police detained her and shifted her to Hyderabad, where she resumed the hunger strike at the Telangana Jagruthi office.

She demanded that the government construct double-bedroom houses for the victims on the Bhoodan land and expressed concern over the situation despite the presence of three ministers from Khammam district.
