DIY Crayon Lipsticks - Wearable Colors

I found these super, amazing, fun Crayon packs at my last Target visit. "Magenta Melt" immediately screamed "DIY CRAYON LIPSTICKS THAT I WOULD ACTUALLY WEAR!".

If you find say 6 colors you like, you can make 6 more just by adding a bit of white crayon to each. So you have 6 darker, and 6 pastel versions. An 8 pack cost around 0.99 cents at Target.

The container I ended up using is a 18 sectioned plastic box. I bought this at The Container Store for $6.99. But don't feel like you need to go out and buy a fancy cotainer to store the lippies you make. I also used an empty, washed, MAC fluidline jar (shown in the video) and am planning to use the awesome weekly pill containers I bought at the Dollar Tree last week.

So heres what you'll need:

Crayola Brand Crayons (non-toxic)
Coconut Oil (Organic Cold Pressed preferred)
Additive like castor oil, olive oil, or jojoba oil (but may also use petrolum jelly, no color chapstick, Reviva vitamin E stick, carmex, etc.)
Empty containers w/ lid (to keep dust and particals off of your finished lippies!)
Heat proof bowl(s)
Pan filled with water (make shift double boiler)
Heat proof stirring utensil
Paper towels (extremely useful to protect your counter and to wipe up the bowl after each color)
Food grade extracts or oils optional (I like to buy the candy flavor oils from the craft store)

The Crayola Crayon boxes I purchased from Target were:

Magenta Melt (8 pack)
Cupcake My Day (8 pack)
Neon Dreams (8 pack)
Over the Rainbow (16 pack)

These boxes did not include a plain white crayon, but luckily I found a regular crayola crayon box in my craft drawers!

Out of the 4 boxes, I used 18 crayons + 1 white crayon I already had. The colors/combos I used from the boxes and made were (19 shades total):

Pink Sherbert
Fuchsia
Red
Radical Red
Canary + Wisteria + Apricot + Hot Magenta (amazing pink shade comparable to MACs Angel Lipstick)
Wisteria + Fuchsia
Wisteria
Outrageous Orange
Orange + White
Hot Magenta + Orange + White + Radical Red
Dandelion + Wisteria + White + Fuchsia
Sky Blue + Blue
Pink Sherbert + White
Apricot
Burnt Sienna + White
Shocking Pink
Hot Magenta
Green
