Amazon FBA Barcodes and Shipping Labels Explained (plus GTIN Exemption) - UPC EAN GS1 FNSKU ASIN

Описание к видео Amazon FBA Barcodes and Shipping Labels Explained (plus GTIN Exemption) - UPC EAN GS1 FNSKU ASIN

In this video I explain the requirements for Amazon FBA Barcodes and Shipping Labels.

I receive emails on a daily basis from Amazon sellers confused by all of the different barcodes acronyms and shipping labels.

It is a lot easier than it sounds and in this video I explain what the product barcode requirements are and how to create shipping labels. I also cover how to apply for a GTIN exemption for your private label product so that you can sell your product on Amazon without buying a barcode.

Product Barcodes

1) The first thing you need is an official GS1 GTIN barcode, I recommend buying barcodes directly from https://www.gs1uk.org/get-a-barcode - it costs approximately £120 per year for up to 1000 barcodes. There are cheaper GS1 barcodes available from other sites, however, there is a small risk that these could cause issues when used with Amazon so I would always recommend official GS1 barcodes.

2) Once you have a GS1 barcode you will have a 12/13 digit GTIN that you can use as your EAN/UPC - if you are in Europe it will be an EAN and if you are in America a UPC.

3) Add your product to Amazon and enter your EAN/UPC as your product ID - this can just be a basic listing that you can add to at a later date.

4) Amazon will issue their own product barcode (FNSKU), you then send this to your supplier who adds the FNSKU to every unit they manufacture.

5) Once you have your FNSKU your GTIN/UPC/EAN barcode does not matter as Amazon manager everything via the FNSKU.

Shipping Labels

1) Product Labels (FNSKU) – Send to supplier

2) Carton Labels – Send to supplier

3) Pallet Labels (if applicable) – Send to supplier and/or freight forwarder

4) Warning Labels (if applicable e.g. heavy warning labels for cartons if above 15kg) – Send to supplier

GTIN Exemption

Although I haven't tried this, it should be possible to apply for GTIN exemptions for private label products.

This allows your brand to add products to approved categories without the need for a GTIN / UPC / EAN barcodes.

This could be a great way of keeping costs down, especially if you are on a tight budget.
