A follow-up to the spring shackle video showing how to make greaseable spring shackle bolts.

Especially when you use poly urethane spring shackle bushings, it can be important to grease the interfaces between the bushing and the moving parts of the spring shackle to prevent squeaking. One easy way to do that is drilling a hole down the center of the spring shackle bolt and then add a grease fitting to allow grease to be injected into the center of the bushing.

My company offers greaseable bolts on all our shackles as well as greaseble spring hanger bolts. We'll also modify your existing bolts if desired, as was done in this video. The customer had the shackles already and had us purchase and modify a set of bolts to use with his existing shackles:

We usually try to work with class 8.8 or Grade 5 hardware as it's easier to drill than 10.8 or Gr8 hardware. No real advantage to using the higher grade hardware for spring shackle bolts as they are not under a high tension load.

I need to try running the lathe off of solar power once I get a longer extension cable to reach it's location. The milling machine runs off 240V and I can't run that with my 120V power inverter.
