Do you ever react in ways that don’t make sense… even to you?
Sometimes brains learn things we never meant to teach them.
Trauma leaves its marks.
Behavior patterns that aren’t random.
They’re survival responses.
Like how to shut down.
Or disappear.
Or smile when terrified.
Not decisions. Reflexes.
Not choices. Protections.
Freeze. Fawn. Mask. Dissociate.
Trauma from the things I lived through carved these responses into my brain.
My brain created these pathways to keep me alive.
The carvings run deep.
Etched into my nervous system like grooves on stone.
But carved paths can change.
What’s carved isn’t permanent.
Neuroplasticity means brain wiring can be rewritten.
I survived by reflex.
Now I’m rewiring by choice.
